IMSI Awards Inaugural Women in Manufacturing Scholarship

Johnston, Iowa: November 30, 2020 – Intelligent Manufacturing Systems International, Inc. (IMSI) awarded its inaugural Women in Manufacturing (WIM) scholarship recognizing the vital importance of women to the manufacturing industry.

The scholarship recognizes that manufacturing is an exciting and rewarding career decision, and one women can excel in

This first award, a check for $1,000.00, was presented to Fayelee Brazis-Pfeiff. Fayelee is a welding technology student at Western Maricopa Education Center (West MEC) located in Glendale, AZ. In addition to the WIM scholarship, IMSI also awarded West MEC a $500.00 grant for shop supplies and PPE to assist female students enrolled in machining and manufacturing programs.

Funds for IMSI scholarships and grants come from IMSI operation funds. Because IMSI provides services, programs, meetings, and events around the country, and believes that giving back to a host area is important, a recipient school is selected to receive a Women in Manufacturing Scholarship where a function is held.

Jack Harris, IMSI Chairman said, “IMSI is very proud to present the scholarship to Fayelee and the supportive grant to West MEC. The importance of women in STEM and Advanced Manufacturing can’t be understated.” For the World Manufacturing Forum – North America 2020 event, the Phoenix, AZ area was selected as the host, and West-MEC the recipient. Robert Mansfield, IMSI’s Managing Director, stated, “The Phoenix area created a superb educational and economic environment for manufacturing and implementing Industry 4.0 technologies. Our first scholarship award here is most fitting.”

IMSI is an industry-led, international business innovation and research and development (R&D) program established to develop the next generation of manufacturing and processing technologies through multi-lateral collaboration.

Established 30 years ago, IMSI projects help manufacturers adapt to rapidly advancing technologies. IMSI provides workshops, project coaching services, Industry 4.0 guides, participation in regional and technical World Manufacturing Forum events, and an international collaborative environment for a robust exchange of ideas and synergy creation.
