MTP Requirements

Because MTPs were designed to easily bring researchers together, the requirements are simple.

Three or more IMS Regions are required to establish an initiative.
IMS is a multi-lateral research program, so this requirement is necessary to meet the basic tenet of our charter. Our goal is to bring global solutions to challenges in advanced manufacturing.
A minimum funding and or resource level of $1m (U.S.) is recommended.
This funding may be in the form of travel costs, costs for information dissemination, management costs, resources, facility and equipment use, or other in-kind contributions.
The minimum duration of an active MTP initiative is 12 months.
This time period starts at the date of signature of the MOA and ends with the conclusion of the research, usually the final report.
Initiative partners will meet a minimum of 2 times per year and send a copy of the
meeting minutes to IMS.

Meetings may be physical or virtual. MTP initiatives are encouraged to meet concurrent with the bi-annual IMS meetings. IMS is always interested in dissemination research activities to the community and is an opportunity for researchers to share and market their outcomes.
Initiative meetings could be held in conjunction with the IMS ISC meetings.
MTP initiatives are encouraged to meet concurrent with the bi-annual IMS meetings in order to broaden their network with other MTP researchers.
Funding for MTP initiative meetings/workshops will be provided by each partner or by an
IMS Region (if feasible).

IMS International does not provide funding, but your local IMS Regional Secretariat may help steer you toward funding sources.
In the past has provided meeting space and other in-kind contributions for MTPs when meeting concurrent with the IMS bi-annual meeting held typically in the spring and fall.
