| The Intelligent Manufacturing Systems (IMS) program held its second IMS Manufacturing Technology Platform (MTP) workshop on 2 October, 2008 in Montreux, Switzerland. Workshop participants were invited to leverage on-going research, create new research, and stimulate sharing of knowledge in non- or pre-competitive areas in the specific research domains of sustainability, key technologies, standards and global interoperability, education, and energy efficiency. Expected results include successful collaborations and significant initiatives coalescing into research. Eleven initiatives (projects) were presented, and some have already begun their research. The presentations may be found below. |
| The supporting governments of IMS (European Union, Japan, South Korea, Switzerland, and United States) are actively promoting international cooperative research through the MTP program, and will be hosting a large event in April, 2009. |
