| The Intelligent Manufacturing Systems (IMS) program is pleased to announce the successful launch of the new IMS Manufacturing Technology Platform program with over 90 participants at its inaugural workshop. The member regions of IMS including the European Union, Japan, South Korea, Switzerland, and the United States, sent experts from top research institutions, universities, and industry to Bern, Switzerland, for a workshop to network specific research initiatives in the area of sustainability, key technologies, standards and global interoperability, education, and energy efficiency. This new program created networks designed to leverage on-going research, create new research, and stimulate sharing of knowledge in non- or pre-competitive areas. The results yielded successful collaborations and significant initiatives particularly in the areas of standards, sustainability, and key technologies. There were four new initiatives that are expected to sign a “Memorandum of Agreement” to conduct global joint research, and over 20 others in various stages of development that began discussions. |
