Sustainability/Interoperability

Manufacturing in its global aspects relies on well functioning infrastructures. These infrastructures have high fixed costs, high public investment and long economic life. The combination of engineering principles with sound business practices and economic theory is required for successful asset management. The detailed R&D objectives at the start of the project are the following:

•    Development of a real time Decision Support System based on knowledge

•    Development of a sustainable approach for infrastructure asset and risk management

•    Establishment of procedures for bridge monitoring and assessment to increase the safety of the transportation infrastructure

•    To improve the state of the art in Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) and damage detection

•    Establishment of a full scaled test bed for calibration of the methodologies

•    Global dissemination of the results and standardization activities
